Can I sue the school if my son had an accident within the school premises?

I had a son in 2008. My son fell in school. He was jumping a bench and fell. He hit himself side of his face close to his eyes. When he fell and hit himself the fell was so hard that he had a major bruised. They took him to the nurse they just put a bag of ice. The next day his eyes started to get cross sided plus they started to get red. I took him to the clinic and the clinic referred me to a specialist for his eyes. Now his eyes are starting to get red plus it started to get crossed sided. Now the school calls to report that he has eye problems. Can I sue the school? Plus he was not supervised my son is in a special class. What can I do? Thank you.
